Season 2 of “Running Point” is officially set to return April 23 on Netflix, with the streamer tipping off the next chapter through the release of first-look images from the upcoming season. The sports comedy stars Kate Hudson and comes from executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen.
Season 1 introduced viewers to Isla Gordon (Hudson), a sharp, underestimated executive who unexpectedly finds herself running the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise in the wake of a high-profile scandal.
In season two, the stakes are even higher. The synopsis reads: “Isla Gordon is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching. With the franchise finally rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam (Justin Theroux). What she doesn’t know is that Cam is quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition. As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts.”
The ensemble cast includes Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Uche Agada, with recurring guest stars including Ray Romano, Max Greenfield and Jay Ellis. Hudson also serves as an executive producer alongside Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, Linda Rambis and producer Jordan Rambis.
“Running Point” is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
