After a record-breaking “Actors on Actors” season, Variety and CNN are joining forces again, this time for a one-of-a-kind town hall conversation featuring Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey.

The event marks a reunion for Chalamet and McConaughey, who played son and father in Christopher Nolan’s 2014 sci-fi epic “Interstellar.”

Filmed before a live audience of University of Texas at Austin’s students, the program will bring together two of Hollywood’s most dynamic actors for a candid discussion about their craft and creative process. In addition to reflecting on their approaches to acting and the roles that influenced their work, Chalamet, who recently earned his third best actor Oscar nomination for “Marty Supreme,” and McConaughey, an Academy Award winner for “Dallas Buyers Club” who just starred in the Apple TV+ drama “The Lost Bus,” will take questions from the crowd throughout the evening. McConaughey, a UT Austin alumnus, has taught film classes at the university’s Moody College of Communication since 2015.

“A CNN & Variety Town Hall Event: Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey” will air on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. ET on CNN and stream for subscribers of CNN’s streaming offering.

“This special event underscores the strength of CNN’s partnership with Variety and our shared commitment to thoughtful, premium experiences that bring audiences closer to the artists they admire,” said Amy Entelis, CNN’s VP of creative executive for originals and creative development for worldwide. “Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey offer a masterclass in craft and creativity, which is exactly the kind of elevated programming we’re proud to bring to CNN audiences and our streaming subscribers.”

Timothee Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey first met playing father and son on the set of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar,’” said Ramin Setoodeh, Variety’s co-editor in chief and co-president. “And at Variety, we love a reunion. Coming off the success of this season of ‘Actors on Actors,’ we are thrilled to once again collaborate with CNN on this one-of-a-kind town hall event. We can’t wait to bring together two of the most daring actors in Hollywood.”

The latest season of “Actors on Actors” premiered in December with a lineup that included Ariana Grande and Adam Sandler, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, and more. The season drew the franchise’s largest-ever social footprint with 247 million views across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X. All episodes are available now to stream now for CNN subscribers.
