Everything Coming to Stan in June 2022

Stan June lineup
Stan

June sees the arrival of several intriguing new TV seasons, from both old and new series, on Stan. Iconic 90s series “Queer As Folk” is being reimagined for modern audiences, updating the setting from Britain to New Orleans.

The new “Queer As Folk” follows a group of hard-partying friends whose lives are suddenly transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy. Kim Cattrall and Juliette Lewis are set to give the fledgling reboot a boost with guest appearances, backing up newcomers Fin Argus and Jesse James Keitel.

The latest creation of acclaimed producer Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”, “The Good Place”), “Rutherford Falls” debuted last year to the most middling reviews of Schur’s career.

It’s coming back for another go at it on June 17th, however, and there remains plenty of potential: Ed Helms and Reagan Wells have great chemistry as two lifelong best friends who struggle to cope when their a crisis hits their titular small town. And with one of the largest Indigenous writer’s rooms on TV, the series’ continuation is important for Native representation on the small screen.

Some of the finest films of the last decade also head to the streaming platform in June, including the touching slice of Americana “The Florida Project” (June 11th), the gut-wrenching Irish Troubles historical drama “Hunger” (June 13th), and Ari Aster’s latest nightmarish horror creation “Midsommar” (June 28th).

Or on June 21st, why not try Taika Waititi’s directorial debut: long before resurrecting the “Thor” franchise, long before even the acclaimed Boy came “Eagle vs Shark”, a delightfully whimsical romantic comedy set in Wellington, filled with “Napoleon Dynamite”-adjacent humour.
