Yamaha Music Australia has unveiled the Main Stage Grant, a new initiative designed to provide support to the next generation of Australian musicians.
Open to artists across three categories — bands, singer-songwriters and music producers — the grant will provide the tool needed to create, record and perform. One artist from each category will receive $5,000 cash, plus $5,000 worth of Yamaha instruments.
In collaboration with Yamaha, a panel of industry experts and tastemakers will review each application to determine the three recipients, set to be announced in early December.
“Main Stage is about giving the next generation of Australian musicians the platform and support they deserve. Whether you’re a band, a songwriter, or a producer, we want to help you take that next big step with real backing,” Mitch Kelly, marketing manager at Yamaha, said.
“We believe Australia makes the best music, and we want to continue to support you.”
The Main Stage Grant joins the company’s existing initiatives on their mission to empower artists across all stages of their music journey. Other programs include the Share Your Moment competition, which encourages artists to share the stories that have shaped their music careers, and the Great Start Grant, which offers schools the opportunity to create a vibrant culture of music education.
Yamaha hopes the grant will cement its 130-year legacy as a cornerstone of music production, education, and performance.
