Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has recruited Brad Singer, who was formerly Zaslav’s CFO at Discovery Communications, to be chief financial officer of the Warner Bros. streaming and studios company after WBD splits into two.
Singer will assume the role of CFO of Warner Bros. upon completion of the company’s planned separation, which is expected to occur by mid-2026. He will report to Zaslav, who is set to become president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. post-split. WBD’s current CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, is set to become chief executive of Discovery Global, the entity that will house WBD’s TV networks and Discovery+.
Singer will start in this new position in October 2025 in a strategic role until the official formation of Warner Bros. As CFO of Warner Bros., he will oversee global financial functions and strategies, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, internal audit, treasury, tax, procurement, and investor relations activities.
“Brad was instrumental in driving significant value creation and growth during our time together at Discovery Communications, and I’m thrilled to be reuniting with a trusted leader whose financial expertise and strategic vision have consistently delivered results,” Zaslav said in a statement. “His proven track record combined with his sharp understanding of emerging technologies and evolving consumer trends will make him a tremendous addition to the new Warner Bros. leadership team.”
Singer most recently served as partner and COO of activist investment firm ValueAct Capital, which he joined in 2012 before retiring in 2021. During that time he also served on the boards of Rolls-Royce Holdings and Motorola Solutions. Singer was CFO of Discovery Communications from 2008-12, where he played a key role in taking the company public in 2008. Earlier in his career, he was CFO and treasurer of American Tower where he helped lead post-IPO growth, capital planning and restructuring, M&A and international expansion, and prior to that was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs.
Singer is a current board member of Warby Parker where he serves on the audit and compensation committees, as well as Sweetgreen where he has chaired the audit committee since 2021. He holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Virginia.
Singer said in a statement provided by WBD: “I am excited and energized to reunite with David and join the future Warner Bros. at this pivotal moment. The company’s beloved brands, creative excellence and enduring connection with audiences worldwide provide an extraordinary foundation. I see meaningful opportunities to unlock long-term value and I look forward to working with David and the leadership team to achieve that.”
