Ahead of its September 2025 premiere, “Top End Wedding” sequel series “Top End Bub” has unveiled its trailer, with the new eight-part streaming title returning to the story of Miranda Tapsell’s Lauren and Gwilym Lee’s Ned.
The Prime Video effort picks up with the couple, who first reached the screen in the 2019 Australian big-screen rom-com hit, as their life in Adelaide appears perfect. Then tragedy strikes in the Northern Territory, sparking a fresh trip to Darwin. After Lauren’s sister Ronelle (Shari Sebbens) dies in a car accident, Lauren and Ned become guardians to her daughter Taya (debutant Gladys-May Kelly).
Produced by Goalpost Pictures and debuting on Friday, September 12, 2025 in Australia and New Zealand, “Top End Bub” also sees Huw Higginson and Ursula Yovich return as Lauren’s parents. Elaine Crombie, Rob Collins and Tracy Mann are among the fellow familiar faces from the film, while Brooke Satchwell, Guy Simon and Clarence Ryan join the cast.
In “Top End Wedding,” Lauren and Ned travelled north for their nuptials, and to help Lauren’s father after her mother went AWOL. As co-written by Tapsell with Joshua Tyler and directed by Wayne Blair (“Firestarter — The Story of Bangarra”), the 2019 Sundance Film Festival-premiering romantic comedy was a local success. Currently, it is placed 70th among all-time box-office takings for Australian features.

Prime Video announced its expansion of “Top End Wedding” to the small screen in April 2024, with Tapsell creating, writing and executive producing”Top End Bub” with Tyler, and Sebbens and Christiaan Van Vuuren both directing the series
“Josh Tyler and I had such a ball writing ‘Top End Wedding’ that we just had to get the whole team back together to reunite Lauren and Ned for a new spinoff series ‘Top End Bub’,” said Tapsell.
“Everything you love most about them, their family and the Top End, is all there for you to enjoy. In a world full of chaos and anger, we hope the show brings joy and laughter into your home.”
