Sam Neill is back in the courtroom in “The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer,” the third instalment of Binge’s award-winning anthology series, premiering Sunday, August 4.
This time, the high-stakes drama hits closer to home for Neill’s character Brett Colby SC, who finds himself defending the husband of a lifelong friend accused of a brutal murder.
As the trial unfolds, a deeper mystery emerges, linking the case to the unsolved 1968 killings of two teenagers. As with previous seasons, the story is also told through the eyes of the twelve jurors—each grappling with the ways the trial intersects with their own lives.
Joining Neill are Danielle Cormack (“Wentworth”), Eryn Jean Norvill (“Love Me”), Sarah Peirse (“Stateless”) and William Zappa (“The Dry”).
The new jury includes a strong ensemble cast: Ewen Leslie, Phoenix Raei, Hanah Tayeb, Nathalie Morris, Catherine Moore, Bolude Watson, Bessie Holland, Stuart Daulman, Paul Tassone, Charles Napoleon An, Libby Stone, and newcomer Claire Leach.
“Cape Rock Killer” was produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia and Easy Tiger Productions for the Foxtel Group, with major production investment from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive.
The eight-part series was shot in WA, creating over 650 local jobs and injecting more than $10 million into the state’s economy, far surpassing the impact of the previous season.
The creative team includes directors Madeleine Gottlieb and emerging talent Emma Jackson, with writing by Sarah L. Walker, Matt Cameron, Mia Lethbridge, Adele Vuko, and Sam Meikle. Neill also serves as an executive producer, alongside Michael Brooks, Sarah L. Walker, Alison Hurbert-Burns, and Penny Win.
“The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer” will be distributed globally by Fifth Season. The new season drops weekly on Binge and will also screen on Showcase at 8.30pm, with episodes available On Demand.
