Seven Network will stream the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) live and free on 7plus Sport.

The Esports World Cup kicks off on 7plus Sport on Thursday, July 10th at 9pm AEST, with matches in “Apex Legends” and “Fatal Fury”. Coverage will run through to Monday, August 25th, including weekly finals and a recap show, “EWC Spotlight”.

Held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, EWC 2025 brings together more than 2,000 players from around the world, competing across 24 titles including “Counter Strike,” “League of Legends,” “DOTA,” “MLBB,” “PUBG” and “Honour of Kings”. With a total prize pool of US$70 million, it’s the largest in esports history.

Jordan King, Seven’s National Digital Sales Director, told Mediaweek the move is about reaching new audiences.

“We’re always looking at how we engage with new audiences and how we get content that’s relevant to an evolving Australia. We’re an evolving digital company. And so while you have your programming that just works, you know, your AFLs and your Dancing With The Stars and that stuff, your traditional stuff. But, you’ve got to continue that evolution and talking to new audiences. And so we will look at things like this.”

Seven is hoping the World Cup will drive fresh viewership. And if it works, expect more programming aimed at Australia’s growing gamer audience.
