Stan has landed an early season two renewal to “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” weeks before the prequel’s August 9 debut.

The green light signals confidence in what’s shaping up to be one of 2025’s most talked-about TV dramas. New episodes will drop weekly on Saturdays, streaming only on Stan in Australia.

Production on season two is set to begin in June, returning to the same Scottish soundstages where Outlander has filmed for the past decade.

“The early green light for “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” season two speaks volumes about the scale and ambition of this series — and the immense anticipation already surrounding its premiere,” said Stan Chief Content Officer Cailah Scobie.

“It’s a rare opportunity to grow a globally loved franchise with a new story that stands entirely on its own. With sweeping romance, rich character arcs and a fresh cast, this is set to be one of the must-watch dramas of the year.”

Showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts added: “The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ has been extraordinary and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in season two. Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamoured by these new couples when they meet them this summer.”

The prequel unspools across two timelines — from the trenches of World War I to the rugged Scottish Highlands of the 18th century — tracking the forbidden romances of Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine). Fate connects the pairs in ways that will reshape the “Outlander” mythology.

For newcomers, the show offers a fresh entry point into the “Outlander” world. For diehards, it’s a chance to revisit fan-favourite characters through a new lens, with origin stories that reframe familiar lore.

Joining Slater, Roy, Corfield and Irvine in the ensemble cast are Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat; Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser; Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie; Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie; and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

Behind the camera, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” reunites core creative talent. Matthew B. Roberts leads as showrunner and executive producer alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
