NBC has given a series order to the comedy starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, Variety has learned.
The series is currently titled “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.” It was originally announced with a pilot order in March with Morgan in the lead role, while Radcliffe signed on not long after. Per the official logline, “A disgraced former football player (Morgan) is on a mission to rehabilitate his image.”
Along with Morgan and Radcliffe, the series also stars Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.
As previously announced, the series marks a “30 Rock” reunion. In addition to Morgan starring, Robert Carlock and Sam Means are attached to write and executive produce, with Tina Fey also executive producing. Carlock is executive producing via Bevel Gears. “SNL” alum Rhys Thomas will executive produce and direct the pilot, with Eric Gurian of Fey’s Little Stranger banner and David Miner of 3 Arts also executive producing. Universal Television, where Fey is under an overall deal, is the studio.
Morgan famously played Tracy Jordan throughout the entire run of “30 Rock,” receiving an Emmy nomination for his work on the show in 2009. Radcliffe previously worked with Fey, Carlock, and Means when he appeared in the Netflix interactive movie “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend.”
The pickup for “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” comes as NBC unveils its schedule for fall 2025 and just ahead of the NBCUniversal upfront presentation in New York. NBC has two other comedy pilots — cheerleading comedy “Stumble” from Jeff and Liz Astrof and an untitled project from Sierra Teller Ornelas — still in contention.
NBC previously renewed the comedies “St. Denis Medical” and “Happy’s Place,” while both “Night Court” and “Lopez vs. Lopez” were recently canceled.
