A trailer for the upcoming trans-Tasman produced “Forgive Us All” has dropped, alongside news that the film will hit Australian cinemas from May 1st.
Set in post-apocalyptic world blighted by a virus which has turned humans into violently deranged cannibals, the film follows Rory (Lily Sullivan) a bereaved mother who finds shelter in an isolated mountain cabin until a desperate wounded stranger arrives.
Having been entirely shot on location in Queenstown, New Zealand, the film features an all-star Australian cast with Sullivan being joined by local screen legend Richard Roxburgh and Callan Mulvey, alongside New Zealand actors Dean O’Gorman, Bree Peters, Lawrence Makoare and Lance Giles who is making his feature film debut.
“Forgive Us All” also marks the writing and directorial debut for Jordana Stott, who alongside partner Giles founded meal-kit company Youfoodz in 2012 and spent $10 million of their own money to produce the feature film.
Stott said she had “set out to create a western/horror that challenges moral complexities of survival and has a strong female redemption narrative at its core”.
“Ultimately, ‘Forgive Us All’ serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of motherhood, the painful search for redemption and the hope that can emerge from the darkest of circumstances.”
“We started a business in a completely different sector, to be able to financially be in a position to hopefully fund our own feature film one day,” Giles told the NZ Herald last year. “At the heart of it, our passion was always film.”
The couple have enlisted award-winning Director of Photography Peter McCaffrey, Composer Brandon Roberts, and Academy Award-nominated editor Michael Horton for the film which is being produced by Giles for Stiles Pictures and Jared Connon for Five Films.
