The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) has announced the winners of the 14th AACTA International Awards, celebrating outstanding achievements in global film and television. The prestigious event saw a mix of established stars and emerging talents recognised for their contributions to the entertainment industry.
Nicole Kidman secured her fourth AACTA International Award, winning Best Lead Actress for her role in “Babygirl”.
Zoe Saldaña continued her impressive awards season run, claiming the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in “Emilia Pérez”. This win comes on the heels of her recent Golden Globe triumph/
Australian talent shone brightly at the ceremony, with Guy Pearce taking home the Best Supporting Actor award for his work in “The Brutalist”.
In the Best Lead Actor category, British thespian Ralph Fiennes was honoured for his performance in “Conclave”, a role that has also put him in contention for an Academy Award.
“Better Man”, the Robbie Williams biopic, emerged as a major winner, securing both Best Film and Best Direction in Film for Australian director Michael Gracey. These international accolades complement the film’s success at the domestic AACTA Awards, where it claimed nine awards including Best Film and Best Direction.
Jesse Eisenberg’s screenplay for “A Real Pain” was recognised with the Best Screenplay award, adding to the film’s growing Oscar buzz in the Best Original Screenplay category.
In the television categories, “Shōgun” clinched Best Drama Series, while “The Bear” took home the award for Best Comedy Series. Comedy legend Larry David was honoured for his final season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, winning Best Actor in a Series.
Elizabeth Debicki’s portrayal of Princess Diana in “The Crown” earned her the Best Actress in a Series award, adding to her recent Golden Globe and Emmy wins.
