A new locally-filmed TV series is set to premiere on Stan next month.
Adapted from Holden Sheppard’s award-winning novel, “Invisible Boys” is confirmed to hit the streaming platform on Thursday, February 13th.
The Stan Original series, filmed in Perth and Geraldton, is described as “is an emotional tale of individuality and belonging. Written for screen by a team of queer writers, the series is raw and authentic, depicting facets of gay sexuality often overlooked.”
“Set against the backdrop of the 2017 same-sex marriage plebiscite, the series explores the challenges faced by a group of gay teens in the remote coastal town of Geraldton, Western Australia after one of them is outed on social media following an encounter with a married man. ” a statement issued by Stan this week reads.
“As they form a tight-knit friendship, the boys find solace and support in one another, exploring their desires and identities in a world that often renders them invisible.”

The show stars a string of up and coming and established Australian talent, including Australian talent Joseph Zada, Aydan Calafiore, Zach Blampied, Joe Klocek, Pia Miranda, and David Lyons.
Other notable names include Shareena Clanton, Myles Pollard, Elaine Crombie, Hayley McElhinney, Steve Le Marquand, and Khan Chittenden.
Invisible Boys is written, and directed by Logie and AACTA award-winning creator and director Nicholas Verso (“Crazy Fun Park,” “Boys in the Trees”), while Sheppard is also featured on the writing team.
The announcement comes after Stan enjoyed the success of another Stan Original, “Bump,” which premiered its fifth and final season last month, while the Leighton Meester-led comedic drama, “Good Cop/Bad Cop” will hit the streamer on Thursday, February 20th.
Stan users will also hope to soon hear more about a new show led by “Saturday Night Live” legend Will Forte which was filmed in New South Wales last year.
