NITV and SBS have announced a great lineup for NAIDOC Week, featuring music, news, entertainment, and more.
This week will see curated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content premiering across the network, with a variety of shows exploring this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’.
Tanya Denning-Orman, a proud Birri and Guugu Yimidhirr woman and Director of Indigenous Content at SBS, said: “We are proud that as a network we’re sharing more of our stories through NITV and SBS, every day. This NAIDOC Week, our content is insightful, celebratory and unapologetically Blak, featuring comedy, family and communities in line with the 2024 NAIDOC theme, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! “We have brand new entertainment programs such as ‘Big Backyard Quiz’ and a new edition of ‘Sounds of Solidarity,’ plus another season of the family favourite, ‘Little J & Big Cuz’ and our in-depth look at mob on Country with ‘The Point: Road Trip.’

Variety Australia has selected four highlights from SBS and NITV’s impressive offering, which is also available to watch on SBS On Demand.

“Living Black”

Tune in to Australia’s longest-running Indigenous current affairs TV program, “Living Black.” Hosted by Walkley Award-winning journalist Karla Grant, the show features inspiring and influential individuals sharing their life stories and careers.
This week, Karla Grant chats with Emily Wurramara, a versatile singer from known for transcending genres. Grant explores Wurramara’s life, upcoming music, and resilience in the face of adversity, including overcoming a house fire.
Wurramara has just released her new single, “Lordy Lordy”, featuring Tasman Keith.
“Sydney Opera House Presents: Generations and Dynasties”

Join father/daughter duo Troy Cassar-Daley, a multi-award-winning country musician, and his rising indie-pop artist daughter Jem Cassar-Daley at the Sydney Opera House for a special evening of music, storytelling, and inspiration.
“Generations and Dynasties” explores the rich storytelling tradition in First Nations culture, passed down from parents to children and among siblings.
This is the third episode in a series that has already featured the Jarrett family and the Briscoe sisters, highlighting the importance of family, community, and culture. It’s a tribute to these trailblazers and a celebration of creativity across generations.
“The Point: Road Trip”
Weekly on Tuesdays at 7.30pm from Tuesday, July 9th on NITV, and on Friday, July 12th at 2pm on SBS
“The Point” is back with a new season. This time, it’s “The Point: Road Trip”, hitting the road to talk with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians across the country.
Hosted by John Paul Janke, National Indigenous Affairs Editor and proud Wuthathi and Meriam man, the show dives into real discussions about challenges facing Indigenous communities and local solutions that make a difference. Keep an eye out for Narelda Jacobs OAM, a Whadjuk Noongar woman from Network Ten’s “10 News First: Midday” and “10 News First: Afternoons” throughout the season.
