The end of “The Boys” is nearly here.
Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for the fifth and final season of the superhero drama, which will begin streaming on April 8 with its first two episodes. The series finale will drop on May 20.
“In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims,” the logline reads. “Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a ‘Freedom Camp.’ Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.”
Season 4 ended in July 2024, with the new U.S. president enacting martial law and putting Homelander effectively in charge of the country. All the Boys were captured, except for Butcher, who has tendril superpowers and wields a virus that could wipe out all supes, and Annie, who’s regained her Starlight powers and recruited some of the Godolkin students in “Gen V” Season 2.
“The Boys” Season 5 cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry and Daveed Diggs.
The show is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series of the same name and created by showrunner Eric Kripke. Executive producers include Kripke, Ennis, Robertson, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Judalina Neira, Jessica Chou, Gabriel Garcia, Ori Marmur, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter.
