Streaming discovery platform JustWatch has launched its own streaming service in Australia and New Zealand, offering viewers free, rental and subscription-based access to films and television shows.

JustWatch TV officially launched on Tuesday across 11 markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Spain.

The new service is available directly through the JustWatch website, mobile and TV apps, expanding the company’s existing streaming guide into a platform where audiences can watch content without leaving the service.

JustWatch TV has launched with 30 content partners, including Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media. Newly announced partners include Cineverse in the US, LEONINE Studios in Germany, SND in France and, Altitude in the UK and Ireland.

The platform offers three viewing options: JustWatch TV Free, an advertising-supported selection of films and series; JustWatch TV Store, where users can rent recent and popular films; and JustWatch TV Plus, which provides ad-free access to a growing catalogue alongside exclusive features within the JustWatch app.

“The launch of JustWatch TV marks the most important new development in our company’s twelve-year history, and it’s only the start,” said JustWatch Group founder and CEO David Croyé. “We called our company JustWatch because we wanted to make it easier for people to find and ‘just watch’ the movies and shows they love.

“From the beginning, our vision was to create a single platform that directs fans to all of their entertainment options in one place. JustWatch TV will help fill in the gaps and will make it easier for the massive JustWatch audience to discover and watch great movies and series, including those hard-to-find titles, right from the app itself.”

The service draws on more than a decade of audience viewing data to curate its catalogue, combining personalised recommendations with editorial selections and the platform’s existing “Why to Watch” features.

Rather than replacing its streaming discovery function, JustWatch TV will operate alongside it, allowing users to find titles available across other streaming services while also accessing content directly through JustWatch.

Founded in 2014, the Berlin-headquartered JustWatch Group operates across 140 markets, with its streaming guide reaching more than 50 million users worldwide. The platform currently tracks over 500,000 films and television shows across more than 1,500 streaming services. JustWatch has an Australian office in Sydney, alongside operations in Los Angeles, London, Paris and several other international cities.

The group also operates JustWatch Media, which uses audience data to develop digital marketing campaigns for studios, distributors and streaming platforms across YouTube, Meta and TikTok.
