Jimmy Kimmel branded Donald Trump a “maniac” in reaction to the president’s Truth Social post about the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good. The 37-year-old U.S. citizen was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minn. on Jan. 7. Trump defended the ICE agent by saying the shooting was an act of self-defense and blaming the incident on “the Radical Left threatening, assaulting and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”

“I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital.”

“The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis,” the president continued. “They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”

“This maniac,” Kimmel said in his Jan. 7 monologue. “Now, I saw this video. It didn’t look like anybody got run over to me. It looked to me like a woman got scared, tried to drive away, and they shot her. That’ll be for the court to decide. The mayor of Minneapolis, though, had this to say…”

Kimmel threw to a clip of the city’s mayor, Jacob Frey, slamming MAGA’s defense of the shooting by saying, “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed. And I have a message for ICE… Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”

This is the second time in a month that Kimmel has criticized Trump’s response to a tragic death. When Trump reacted to filmmaker Rob Reiner’s death by saying it was “due to the anger he caused others” through his “Trump derangement syndrome,” Kimmel fired back and called the president “hateful and vile.”

“What we need at a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership. We did not get that from our president, because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense,” Kimmel said.
