Sudeikis and Fragoso talked “Ted Lasso” up top, as the host asked whether the actor wanted to continue the show for Seasons 5 and 6. (The Season 4 finale aired earlier this month.) Sudeikis said he “would like to,” but the status of future seasons remains unknown: “Yeah, I just don’t know,” he said, assuring Fragoso he wasn’t being coy “intentionally.” “We haven’t started a writers’ room or anything like that,” he noted. He added that he would “assume” Apple would continue the show if the main cast wanted to return.

The former “Saturday Night Live” star also got candid about what “Ted Lasso” saved him from, as he’s mentioned on multiple occasions. “Some form of self-harm. Flat out,” Sudeikis answered, describing a feeling that he hadn’t felt since “the confusing teenage years.” “ That’s probably the rawest, most, maybe embarrassing, but I don’t think it’s embarrassing… It does bubble up shame in me to think like, ‘How dare you? How dare you have those kinds of thoughts,’ you know?” The actor continued to describe wanting to be a drummer or a dancer as a teen to get out his emotions. “So how did [‘Ted Lasso’] save me? To a certain degree, it helped [and] it carried me as sometimes the work has done in the past.”

Sudeikis’s ex-fiancé, Olivia Wilde, also came up, as the host asked about what the “Ted Lasso” star feels the public coverage of their separation missed. (Sudeikis specifically made headlines in 2022 when Wilde was served with child custody documents during her appearance at CinemaCon.)

“Oh, gosh. I mean, a million little things,” he responded. “But, but what’s interesting is that it allows you capacity for empathy for when others go through those. And you need not be as lucky as we are to get to do something that we love.”

He continued: “I don’t wish it on anyone because I don’t think it really moves the needle. And to be clear, this isn’t like, all evil is just misunderstood or something like that. I just mean these, interpersonal situations that then get portrayed as being these binary situations of right and wrong… It’s always more complicated, more human than that.”

Sudeikis praised Wilde’s work: “Olivia loves what she does and is very, very good at and always has been. I’m thrilled for her.” (The actress and director is in the middle of the Oscars conversation for her work on “The Invite.”)
