Amanda Laing is reportedly set to leave Nine.
According to The Daily Telegraph and The Australian Financial Review, Laing will leave after an 18-month tenure, where she most recently worked as Managing Director of Streaming and Broadcast.
Laing returned to Nine in January 2025 to run a newly combined division spanning Channel 9, 9Now, Stan and radio. The appointment was central to a restructure designed to bring the group’s broadcast and streaming businesses under one leader.
In June 2025, Laing set out a leadership structure that gave senior executives responsibility across Nine’s free and subscription services. Michael Healy took an expanded entertainment role, while Hamish Turner was given responsibility for Channel 9 and 9Now and Dan Taylor for Stan. Nine said those roles would report to Laing.
That structure makes the question of succession more than a personnel matter. Nine has been asking its content teams to work across platforms while pitching advertisers on the combined reach of television and streaming. It now needs to establish who will lead that work.
Laing was a prominent voice in Nine’s 2027 Upfront last week, presenting plans for Channel 9, 9Now and Stan to share audiences and extend programs across the services. The slate includes spin-offs of The Block and Love Island Australia for Stan.
Before returning to Nine, Laing was Foxtel Group’s chief commercial and content officer and managing director of Binge. She had previously held senior roles at Nine, including group general counsel.
