“A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical” is officially expanding to Sydney, with producers confirming a limited season at the Sydney Lyric from November 2026.
Announced today, the musical will open at the Sydney Lyric in November 2026, following its Melbourne debut at the Princess Theatre on August 5th. The show will run through to mid-October, before making its way to Sydney.
Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, “A Beautiful Noise” traces the legendary artist’s rise from Brooklyn songwriter to one of the world’s biggest-selling music icons. The musical features many of Diamond’s most beloved hits, including “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie” and “Forever in Blue Jeans.”
The Australian production will star Broadway performer Will Swenson as Neil Diamond in his younger years, before Australian actor Terence Crawford portrays the older Diamond. The cast also includes Ashleigh Rubenach, Monica Sayers, Alana Tranter, Tim Wright, Paul Hanlon, Hannah Fredericksen, Rob Mallett and Mark Owen Taylor.
Diamond’s connection with Australia spans nearly half a century of music and memories. He has toured here seven times with Dainty, from the landmark ‘Thank You Australia’ tour in 1976 through to 2015, with his music resonating deeply with audiences. His iconic 1972 live album “Hot August Night” spent 29 weeks at number one and 65 weeks on the chart, making it the third-longest-charting album of its era in Australian music history.
“Some of my most thrilling nights have been while sharing my music with audiences around the world,” said Diamond.
“’A Beautiful Noise’ has already had an incredible journey on Broadway and is currently touring across the US and it’s an incredible honour to see it heading to Melbourne and Sydney. I hope Australian audiences enjoy the show as much as I have.”
The production follows in the footsteps of successful biographical musicals like “Jersey Boys” and “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”, offering audiences an inspiring musical memoir set to Diamond’s defining songs. The creative team behind the show includes Tony Award winner Michael Mayer directing, Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett choreographing, and four-time Academy Award nominee Anthony McCarten writing the book.
