Megan Thee Stallion is recovering after being rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after falling “very ill” while starring in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” on Broadway. She is expected to return to the show on Thursday.
“On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms,” a statement to Variety from her rep reads. “Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting.
“Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on ‘Moulin Rouge’ on Thursday.”
“Last night was a real wake-up call for me,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t. Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting y’all down. “I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been..I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve. Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything.”

Megan was forced to exit on Tuesday night in the middle of the show, reportedly because she was having trouble breathing.
“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her rep told Variety. In a statement to TMZ, FDNY responded to the theater for a person who was having trouble breathing.

Back in February, it was announced that the Grammy winner was set to make her Broadway debut in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” as nightclub impresario Harold Zidler, a part originated by Tony winner Danny Burstein. What was planned as an eight-week engagement at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre began on March 24 and was set to end on May 17.
After 7 years on Broadway, “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” will close on July 26. By then, it will have played 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews, making it the 36th longest-running show in Broadway history. Producers gave no reason as to why it was closing. The show has remained very popular throughout its seven-year run. However, “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” carries hefty production costs due to the music rights and the elaborate set.
