A24 has released the teaser trailer for “Primetime,” a new drama-thriller that sees Robert Pattinson suit up as the iconic “To Catch a Predator” host, Chris Hansen.
“Ren Faire” filmmaker Lance Oppenheim directs with a script from Ajon Singh. Other cast members include Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo and Phoebe Bridgers.
The logline for “Primetime” reads, “In 2006, ‘To Catch a Predator’ host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.” While it reveals little in terms of plot, 2006 brought a significant chapter for “To Catch a Predator,” which followed Hansen and a camera crew as they attempted to catch child predators in complex sting operations. In November 2006, Kaufman County assistant district attorney Bill Conradt killed himself in his Texas residence as law enforcement and an NBC camera crew descended on his home as part of a “To Catch a Predator” investigation. Conradt’s case was part of a four-day sting in Murphy, Texas, which yielded the capture of 25 men. The operation was met with fierce backlash from locals, and the Collin County district attorney’s office declined to prosecute any of the cases brought against the individuals arrested.
“To Catch a Predator” ran from 2004 to 2007 on NBC. The show was massively popular during its day, and despite airing only 20 episodes, it remains a cultural touchstone of TV history and investigative journalism. “To Catch a Predator” also long outlived its time on air through viral YouTube compilations of the series’ most outlandish moments.
“Primetime” is a Range Media, Icki Eneo Arlo and Square Peg production. Producers include. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Robert Pattinson, Brighton McCloskey, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone.
“Primetime” hits theatres in fall 2026. Check out the teaser below.
