Jimmy Kimmel is always targeting Donald Trump in his monologues on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” but his latest one took aim at Trump’s wife, Melania, ahead of her eponymous documentary opening in theaters nationwide. Directed by Brett Ratner, “Melania” is being distributed by Amazon MGM and follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.
“According to the writer Michael Wolff, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe — I mean, documentary — that Amazon made for her,” Kimmel joked, referring to the “Inside Trump’s Head” podcast where Wolff claimed Melania is “truly pissed off” that nationwide backlash over ICE brutality in Minnesota is taking away the publicity from her documentary release.
Kimmel then threw to a clip of Melania promoting the documentary on Fox News, where the First Lady sent a message to divided Americans by saying: “We need to unify. I am calling for unity.”
“Oh, good, Melania’s calling for unity,” Kimmel quipped. “Either that, or she is ordering tea. ‘You need tea?’”
Kimmel then mocked Melania for promoting the film by saying how much her family loves it. The First Lady claimed on Fox News that Donald Trump “loved it” and called it a “must watch.”
“Well, for him it is a must watch,” Kimmel fired back, alleging the only reason Trump had to watch the film is because it’s about his wife. “My guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket.”
Melania also said that Barron Trump “is in the film and liked it, too,” prompting Kimmel to sarcastically say: “Her son and her husband liked it. All the people in the movie are giving it rave reviews. That’s enough for me!”

According to the documentary’s official synopsis, the film gives viewers the chance to “step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.” The studio adds the film has “exclusive footage” of “critical meetings” and “private conversations.”
Ratner’s “Melania” opens in theatres Jan. 30 from Amazon. Watch Kimmel’s latest monologue in the video below.
