“Crocodile Dundee” is returning to the big screen.

The iconic film will screen in 4K with Peter Best’s score performed live by a full orchestra at the Darling Harbour Theatre, ICC Sydney in February next year. This is the first-ever “In Concert” presentation of the 1986 film, which stars Paul Hogan.

The live orchestra will perform the score in sync with the film. Best’s score blends guitar and orchestra with didgeridoo, claves, and wobble board, and covers the film’s settings from the outback to Manhattan.

Best said of the film: “The composer tends to be somebody who sees the film more often than anybody else. I was running the final sequence over and over and had the idea that it just needed rhythm, no music, just a single angle through note, and it all developed from there.

“‘Crocodile Dundee’ intrigued the world with its sense of humour, laconic quality, simplicity and charm. It’s a very charming film. There’s something for everybody in Crocodile Dundee,” he added.

In the film, Hogan stars as legendary Mick “Crocodile” Dundee, a larrikin bushman with a unique philosophy, rugged appeal and easy humour. American journalist Sue Charlton, played by Linda Kozlowski, travels to the Australian outback to investigate Mick’s story of surviving a crocodile attack. After Mick saves her life, sparks fly between the two and the adventure really begins. She brings him to New York City, where he faces modern city life.

The film was written by Hogan, produced by John Cornell and directed by Peter Faiman, with an original score composed by Best. It is a comedy, romance and action-adventure, and also a story about identity, country and connection to land.
