Critics Choice Awards 2026: Sarah Snook, Jacob Elordi Win Big

“One Battle After Another,” a subversive comedy about radical politics, was named best picture at the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards on Sunday. The film won two other prizes; best director and best adapted screenplay for Paul Thomas Anderson.

“Frankenstein,” Guillermo del Toro’s sumptuous re-telling of the horror class, and “Sinners,” tied with a leading four awards. “Frankenstein’s prizes included best supporting actor for Jacobi Elordi’s turn as the Creature, as well as for its production design, hair and makeup and costumes. “Sinners” was recognized for its original screenplay, its casting and its score. Miles Caton, the film’s 20-year-old star, was named best young actor.

“Adolescence,” the story of a murder investigation told in a single shot, also earned four awards, including the statue for best limited series. The show dominated limited series acting prizes, winning Critics Choice Awards for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty. Best actress in a limited series went to Australia’s own Sarah Snook for the mystery thriller “All Her Fault.”

“The Pitt” was named best drama, and picked up prizes for stars Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa, while “The Studio” picked up the award for best comedy series. “The Studio” creator Seth Rogen nabbed best actor in a comedy, while his co-star Ike Barinholtz won best supporting actor in a comedy.

Best actress in a comedy went to Jean Smart in “Hacks,” while Janelle James won best supporting actress in a comedy for “Abbott Elementary.” Rhea Seehorn won best actress in a drama for “Pluribus,” and Tramell Tillman was named best supporting actor in a drama for “Severance.”

On the film front, Jessie Buckley won best actress for playing a grieving mother in “Hamnet,” and Timothée Chalamet earned best actor for his portrayal of a hustling ping-pong player in “Marty Supreme.” Best supporting actress went to Amy Madigan for her chilling turn as a witch in the horror hit, “Weapons.”

Netflix’s viral sensation “KPop Demon Hunters” was named best animated feature and also earned a prize for best song for its chart-topping hit “Golden.” “The Secret Agent,” a drama set during Brazil’s military junta, won best foreign language film.

Jimmy Kimmel, whose show was briefly pulled from the air last year over remarks he made about the murder of Charlie Kirk, won the best talk show prize. He used his speech to remind viewers of the importance of free speech, while taking a swipe at the current Oval Office occupant.

“And most of all, I want to thank our president, Donald Jennifer Trump, without whom, we would be going home empty-handed tonight,” Kimmel said. “So thank you, Mr. President, for all the many ridiculous things you do each and every day. It’s been a banner couple of weeks, and we can’t get wait to get back on the air tomorrow night to talk about them.”

Chelsea Handler hosted the Critics Choice Awards and used her opening monologue to honor Rob Reiner, the “Misery” and “The Princess Bride” director who was murdered last month, as “the nicest guy in Hollywood.”

“Anyone who ever spent time with Rob Reiner knows that the minute you met him, he felt like an old friend when you were in a conversation with him,” she said. “He was present, he was focused, and he was funny, and he would ask you tons of questions, whether you were discussing politics or film or the latest beauty trends. He was all in after I sent him a text thanking him for dinner a few months ago. He texted me back and said, ‘We had so much fun with you last night. Thanks for explaining so much about plastic surgery. It was very edifying.’”
