Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming action-thriller film “Apex.”
Charlize Theron stars as a grieving woman seeking solace in the Australian wilderness, only to find herself fighting for survival when facing off against a ruthless predator, played by Taron Egerton. Eric Bana also stars.
The trailer follows Theron as she heads to Wandarra National Park, where she receives directions from Egerton at a gas station. When she reaches her destination, Egerton’s character is there to greet her. When she complains of gear stolen from her truck, he reveals he was the one to take it.
“Hunt or be hunted” flashes across the screen as the rest of the trailer shows a high-speed chase with Egerton hunting down Theron, giving her the head start of a song’s duration while he loads up a crossbow. Theron races through the forest and rafts through the rapids while Egerton follows her into caves and down the side of a cliff. “Apex” was shot on location in New South Wales, including the Blue Mountains.
The film is directed by Baltasar Kormákur (“Everest”) and written by Jeremy Robbins. “Apex” is produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment; Ian Bryce for Ian Bryce Productions; and Baltasar Kormákur for RVK Studios, along with Theron, A.J. Dix, and Beth Kono under Theron’s Secret Menu banner. Ray Angelic, Will McCance and Dawn Olmstead are executive producers.
“Apex” will debut globally on Netflix on April 24. Watch the trailer below.
