A remake of the 1981 supernatural thriller “Possession,” starring Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley, is coming to theaters next summer.
Paramount has slated the movie to release on June 11, 2027. It’ll open on the big screen alongside Universal’s live-action “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”
“Smile” director Parker Finn is adapting “Possession,” which revolves around the relationship between a spy and his wife, who starts exhibiting concerning behavior after asking for a divorce. Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski wrote and directed the original, led by Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani.
Turner and Qualley play the husband and wife in Finn’s new take on “Possession.” They’re joined on the call sheet by Diego Calva, Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Paul Dano in roles that have yet to be disclosed.
“Possession” will be produced by Finn, Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee, Andrew Childs and Robert Pattinson. Marc Bienstock will serve as executive producer.
Qualley is best known for “The Substance,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Poor Things.” She’ll be seen next in Ridley Scott’s apocalyptic sci-fi thriller “The Dog Stars,” the romantic drama “Love of Your Life” with Patrick Schwarzenegger, and the film “King Snake” from director Jeff Nichols.
Turner has appeared on screen in “Eternity,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “The Boys in the Boat.” He’s starring with Monica Barbaro in this summer’s “One Night Only,” a raucous romantic comedy about the one night a year where premarital sex is legal.

Before “Possession” haunts theaters, Paramount’s upcoming releases include this weekend’s “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie,” the crime drama “By Any Means” with Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul Mateen II, “Street Fighter,” Johnny Depp-led “Ebenezer” and “The Angry Birds Movie 3.”
