The 2026 Tony Awards will take place June 7.
The 79th edition of Broadway’s biggest night of the year will return to Radio City Music Hall and will be broadcast live on both coasts on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.
The Tony Awards eligibility cut-off date for the 2025-2026 season is April 26 for all Broadway productions which meet all other eligibility requirements. Nominations for the 2026 Tony Awards will be announced on May 5.
The Tony Awards will be produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
Early predictions have “Chess,” “Ragtime,” “Titanique,” “Waiting for Godot,” “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Death of a Salesman” and “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” as some of this year’s strongest contenders.
Last year’s awards were hosted by Cynthia Erivo. The musicals “Death Becomes Her,” “Buena Vista Social Club” and “Maybe Happy Ending” led the field with 10 nominations each. “Maybe Happy Ending” came out on top with six wins, including best musical and best actor in a musical for Darren Criss. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ “Purpose” won best play.
Other top acting honors went to Nicole Scherzinger for best actress in a musical for “Sunset Boulevard,” Cole Escola for best actor in a play for “Oh, Mary!” and Sarah Snook for best actress in a play for “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

The 2025 telecast drew 5.1 million viewers for CBS. That was up from 3.53 million in 2024, an increase of approximately 44%. That is also the largest audience for the Tonys since 2019, when the telecast that year nabbed 5.4 million viewers.
