SPOILER ALERT: This interview contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of “The White Lotus,” now streaming on Max.

Walton Goggins tried his hardest not to spoil “The White Lotus” Season 3 finale for anybody, but the secret proved too much to bare. Appearing on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Goggins said that hiding Rick’s shootout and subsequent death caused so much anxiety that he ended up reenacting it for his wife.

“It’s the Super Bowl of culture,” Goggins said about the “White Lotus” finale. “I told no one. And about three weeks ago it had gotten to a place where it was just causing me so much anxiety and [my wife] was visiting me in Los Angeles, and so I just decided to reenact the last 30 minutes of the show for her, and I did all of it. I don’t have a lot of dialogue, right?”

“She said you’ve gotta do this and you’ve withheld it from me for so long,” Goggins said about his wife’s encouragement to spoil Rick’s death. “What was so cathartic for me was she started to cry and she got wrapped up in these people and this moment and understood what that last moment was. This walking with Chelsea in Rick’s arms, he would have walked for eternity.”

The last 30 minutes of “The White Lotus” find Rick succumbing to his thirst for revenge and causing a shootout that leads not only to his death but also the death of his girlfriend, Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood). In an interview with Variety, Wood said that she also spoiled the ending for one of her best friends.

“I accidentally left out stills of me dead, basically — me with the blood on me,” Wood said. “And he was like, ‘Why did you leave those out on the washing machine? Oh my God, I’ve just seen the most harrowing thing!’ And then he was with me last night, and we were holding hands for the whole screening. He almost had to space out a bit because there’s so much of me in Chelsea, so it feels so deeply personal watching me go. And Leslie [Bibb] was like, ‘I can’t fucking watch you die. I’m not watching it.’ And she didn’t watch.”
