Apple TV+ has unveiled the cast for its upcoming six-part thriller series “The Dispatcher,” with a mix of award-winning talent and rising stars set to bring the Australian-set psychological drama to life.
Leading the cast is BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake (“Black Mirror,” “The Village”), alongside Brendan Cowell (“Dune: Prophecy,” “Plum”), Daniel Henshall (“Mickey 17,” “The Babadook”), Jessica Wren (“Mr. Inbetween”), Zahra Newman (“Thirteen Lives”) and newcomer Chloe Geisker. Previously announced Gotham Award winner Patrick Brammall (“Colin from Accounts,” “Evil”) will play the lead role of Ian Hunt.
“The Dispatcher” is adapted from the 2011 novel of the same name by CWA John Creasey Dagger-winning author Ryan David Jahn. The story follows Hunt, a former detective turned police dispatcher whose life was shattered a decade earlier when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. When he receives a distress call from a girl he believes to be Maggie, Hunt becomes consumed with tracking her down—no matter the cost.
The series is written and executive produced by Kris Mrksa (“Requiem,” “No Escape”), with direction and executive production by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Christian Schwochow, known for helming episodes of Netflix’s “The Crown” and the political thriller “Munich – The Edge of War.”
Production is being handled by 60Forty Films (Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta) in association with Werner Film Productions (Joanna Werner), continuing Apple TV+’s expansion into premium international content.
“The Dispatcher” joins a growing slate of acclaimed Apple TV+ thrillers including “Hijack” starring Idris Elba, the Gary Oldman-led espionage series “Slow Horses,” and the upcoming “Down Cemetery Road” starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson. Since launching in 2019, Apple TV+ has become the fastest streaming platform to rack up critical acclaim, earning over 550 award wins and more than 2,500 nominations, including for global hits like “Ted Lasso” and Oscar-winning drama “CODA.”
Apple TV+ is available in more than 100 countries via the Apple TV app and across smart TVs, mobile devices, game consoles, and online at tv.apple.com/au.
