At the Primetime Emmys ceremony, Apple TV+’s “The Studio” won its 11th award, breaking the all-time record for most wins for a freshman comedy series in history.

FX’s “The Bear” set the record in 2023, when it took home 10 trophies at the 75th Emmys, including outstanding comedy series and three acting prizes.

On Sunday’s main ceremony, “The Studio” won two awards for Seth Rogen — lead comedy actor and directing for the episode “The Oner” — the latter which he shared with Evan Goldberg. It was the directing win that broke the freshman record, and tying the all time record for any comedy ever.

“The Studio” surged during Night 1 of the Creative Arts ceremony, winning nine awards including guest actor in a comedy series for Bryan Cranston alongside numerous craft and technical categories. Many of the show’s winners used their speeches to thank Sal Saperstein, the fictional studio executive played by Ike Barinholtz who was thanked in the hilarious Golden Globes episode. Other notable victories included casting for a comedy series, cinematography, music supervision, sound editing and sound mixing.

With 23 Emmy nominations “The Studio” shattered the record for the most noms for a freshman comedy, surpassing the 20 nom benchmark set by “Ted Lasso” in 2021, and tying the record for the most nominated comedy series ever, alongside “The Bear” which broke the record for its second season in 2024.

It’s a banner year for Apple, which garnered the most nominations in the network’s history, in addition to having the most nominated series of the year — it’s psychological drama “Severance,” which netted six prizes on Night 1 of the Creative Arts ceremony.
