Shaquille O’Neal Lends His Muscle to Reebok for Netflix Series ‘Power Moves’

Shaquille O’Neal is going into battle for Reebok.

The retired NBA great takes this form into a new Netflix series, “Power Moves,” for which the prize is a revived Reebok brand.

Reebok was Shaq’s first sponsor, looking after the feet of one of the strongest big men ever to lace them up – a baller who would routinely overwhelm the rival centre over a two-decade career.

The sneaker brand, however, is struggling against the might of the Michael Jordan-fueled Nike, and others.

In “Power Moves,” Shaq takes on the role of President of Reebok Basketball, and, alongside retired scoring machine Allen Iverson as VP, sets about returning Reebok to its previous lofty position.

“I don’t like to have my name associated with failure,” O’Neal explains in the trailer.

With Shaq running point, the Reebok comeback begins at the business’s HQ in Boston, with a lineup including WNBA pro Angel Reese, Chicago Bulls rookie Matas Buzelis, and group CEO Todd Krinsky. The mission: to present the best possible shoes, and slip them onto the feet of the right athletes.

Across 19 NBA seasons, Shaq nabbed an MVP trophy (2000), four championship rings, 15 All-Star Game appearances and two scoring titles, for career regular season averages of 23.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

With a playing weight of 325 pounds (147 kg) and listed at a height of 7’1” (216 cm), he was a beast among giants, an explosive, immovable force who would dunk so hard on his opposite number, their ancestors could feel it.

He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016, and continues to keep a larger-than-life profile as a commentator, DJ, businessman, and more.

“Power Moves,” a six-episode Netflix docuseries, was executive produced by O’Neal, Colin Smeeton, Mike Parris, Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, and Jamie Renberg with showrunner Ian Gelfand.
