RuPaul has sashayed into the history books after landing his 10th Emmy nomination for outstanding host for a reality or competition program for “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
The host, producer and mother of all drag queens is now the most nominated reality host in Emmys history. To date, RuPaul holds the record for the most Emmy wins by a person of color with 14 trophies. He has won the outstanding host for a reality series or competition program category eight times.
“Drag Race” was also nominated for outstanding reality competition program this year, earning its ninth consecutive nod in the category. It is the most-awarded reality competition show at the Emmys with five wins in the category.
“Drag Race” and its spinoffs earned 10 nominations this year overall, including for unstructured reality program for “Untucked”; makeup for a variety, nonfiction or reality program; lighting design/direction for a series; picture editing for an unstructured reality program for “Untucked”; picture editing for a structured reality program; directing for a reality program; casting for a reality program; and production design for a variety or reality series.
Also nominated in the reality host category are “Shark Tank” experts Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Daniel Lubetzky; Alan Cumming for “The Traitors”; Kristen Kish for “Top Chef”; and Jeff Probst for “Survivor.”
“Drag Race” wrapped its 17th season earlier this year, and the franchise has spawned spinoffs in countries around the world as well as “Untucked” and “All Stars.”
