New York-based artist D4vd is reportedly “fully cooperating” with authorities in their investigation into a decomposed female body found in a Tesla that was registered to him. NBC News first reported the development.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the Hollywood Tow yard Monday afternoon to look into a foul odor emanating from the car, which had been in the yard for some days. The police found the body, placed inside of a bag, in the front trunk of the Tesla.
There’s no immediate information about the identity of the person found inside the Tesla, though the car is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to the singer-songwriter. The vehicle was impounded last week after being abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, where neighbors complained of a rotting smell. As of Sept. 9, the case was being treated as a death investigation.
The 20-year-old entertainer, born David Anthony Burke, is currently near the end of his “Withered” North American tour. On Tuesday night, he performed in Minneapolis without addressing the situation.
The musician is best known for the singles “Here With Me” and ”Romantic Homicide,” which have each notched over 1.5 billion Spotify streams. The singer released his second studio album, “Withered,” in April. A deluxe version of the album is scheduled to arrive on Sept. 19.
WWD reports Crocs and Hollister removed D4vd from the brands’ first joint campaign, the “Dream Drop” collection. The campaign went live Sept. 3 and featured D4vd, in addition to other celebrities, as models.
Representatives for D4vd, Crocs and Hollister did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment.
