Jack White has blasted President Donald Trump on social media, calling him a danger “not just to America but the entire world and that’s not an exaggeration.”
Earlier this week, White had posted a photo of the Oval Office on Instagram, calling it “disgusting” after Trump transformed it into a “vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler’s dressing room.” White House communications director Steven Cheung responded in a statement to the Daily Beast, calling him a “washed-up, has-been loser” who has been “masquerading as a real artist.”
White fired back on Wednesday with a lengthy message on the social media platform, stating that he found it “funny” that it took him calling out the White House decor — as opposed to “his gestapo ICE tactics” or “his attempted coup and mob insurrection” — to receive a response.
“How petty and pathetic and thin skinned could this administration get?” he wrote. “‘Masquerading as a real artist’? Thank you for giving me my tombstone engraving! Well here’s my opinion, trump is masquerading as a human being.”
He called Cheung and press secretary Karoline Leavitt “professional liar toadies,” and unloaded a scathing attack on Trump and his supporters.
“That orange grifter has spent more tax payer money cheating at golf than helping ANYONE in the country,” he stated. “Improve. Anything. There is no progress with him, only smoke and mirrors and tax breaks for the ultra wealthy. So maga folk, enjoy your concrete paving over of the rose garden, your 200 million dollar ballroom in the White House, and your gaudy ass gold spray painted trinkets from Home Depot, cause he ain’t spending any money on helping YOU unless you fit into his white supremascist country club rich idiot agenda. Wow, he hates who you hate….good for you, be proud of yourselves, how christian of you all.”
White branded Trump a “conman” and a “low life fascist,” ending his screed with a pointed conclusion: “And no I’m not a Democrat either, I’m a human being raised in Detroit, I’m an artist who’s owned his own businesses like his own upholstery shop and recording label since he was 21 years old who has enough street sense to know when a 3 card monte dealer is a cheap grifter and a thief.”
His Instagram post shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with White’s previous dealings with Trump. In Sept. 2024, he and his White Stripes band member Meg White filed a lawsuit against Trump, accusing him of “flagrant misappropriation” of their song “Seven Nation Army” after his deputy director of communications used it in a since-deleted video on X showing Trump walking out to the tune.
