Sadie Sink is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Stranger Things” star has been cast in “Spider-Man 4,” in which she’ll share the screen with Tom Holland as the teenaged, web-slinging Avenger.

It’s unclear who Sink will portray in the comic book adventure, though Deadline, which first reported the casting news, hinted that her role will be “significant.” The outlet also posited that Sink could play “X-Men” mutant Jean Grey, a character who has been brought to the screen in the past by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, which releases the “Spider-Man”-centric films in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Plot details on the fourth “Spider-Man” installment haven’t been revealed. In the third entry, 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Peter Parker accidentally breaks open the multiverse and allows for two prior Spider-Men, Tobey MaGuire and Andrew Garfield, to all appear in the same reality. This causes more than a few problems — for Peter-One and the universe at large. The film concluded with Holland’s version of the character making the difficult decision to erase his identity from the world, leaving his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) to forget he exists. Sorry if that’s a spoiler, but “No Way Home” grossed a heroic $1.9 billion at the global box office, so it’s safe to assume that Marvel fans are up-to-date on Spidey lore.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the fourquel. He’s taking over for Jon Watts, who helmed the first three films in the franchise. “Spider Man 4” swings to theaters on July 31, 2026.

Sink, 22, rose to fame on Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” which recently wrapped production on the fifth and final season. She also starred in Taylor Swift’s music video for “All Too Well: The Short Film” with Dylan O’Brien. Sink will appear next in the Searchlight musical “O’Dessa,” which world premiered at SXSW, and will make her Broadway debut this April in “John Proctor Is the Villain.”
