The Sydney Film Festival (SFF) will return this year for its 72nd edition.
It’s been confirmed this week that the 2025 festival will take place from Wednesday June 4th to Sunday June 15th, and will again feature world premieres, red carpet events, exclusive screenings and filmmaker Q&As at iconic local venues like the State Theatre, Event Cinemas George Street, Dendy Cinemas Newtown, The Ritz Randwick, Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace Cremorne, Palace Cinemas Central and Norton Street, the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Town Hall, and more.
The first round of films for SFF 2025 will be announced in April, while the full program will be revealed on Wednesday May 7th.
“As we look ahead to the 72nd Sydney Film Festival, we are thrilled to once again offer dynamic big screen experiences that showcase the very best in contemporary cinema, both from Australia and across the globe,” SFF Festival Director Nashen Moodley said on Thursday.
“Our aim is to present films that captivate, inspire, and resonate deeply with audiences here in Sydney. We can’t wait to share our city’s biggest annual celebration of cinema, filled with bold stories and exceptional filmmaking.”
The 2025 dates comes only months after the SFF announced significant changes to its leadership team, appointing Justin Martyniuk as the new Head of Programs and promoting Lisa Kitching to the newly created position of Head of Industry and Special Projects.
