“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” blew them away at the 2025 AACTA Awards Industry Gala, where the action film collected five wins.
The latest in George Miller’s blockbuster “Mad Max” franchise was a standout in the film category, winning for Best Cinematography in Film, Best Costume Design in Film, Best Hair and Makeup, Best Sound in Film, and Best Production Design.
Furiosa now motors on to this Friday’s ceremony, where it’s in the hunt for another five awards including Best Supporting Actor for Australia’s Chris Hemsworth and Best Lead Actress for Anya Taylor-Joy, in the titular role.
Robbie Williams’ musical film “Better Man” was also a big winner, nabbing five wins from its ten nominations. taking home Best Casting in Film, Best Editing in Film, Best Original Score in Film, and Best Visual Effects or Animation for its CGI work, which sees the British pop star evolve into a chimp.
“Better Man” was co-written, produced and directed by Michael Gracey about the life of Williams, the veteran English hitmaker and founding member of Take That.
After dominating the Logies in 2024, “Boy Swallows Universe” ruled the television categories at the AACTAs industry ceremony, taking out six trophies from its eleven nominations.
The gritty coming-of-age Netflix series, set in west Brisbane in the 1980s and based on the book by Trent Dalton, “Boy Swallows Universe” won for Best Casting in Television, Best Editing in Television, Best Direction in Drama or Comedy, Best Cinematography in Television, Best Sound in Television, and Best Production Design in Television.
When the AACTA Awards Ceremony rolls out this Friday at HOTA, “Boy Swallows Universe” will be competing for major prizes.

The 2025 AACTA Industry Awards Gala launches a five-day festival of the national screen industry. On the night, 31 awards were presented, saluting the best in film, TV, documentary, short film, and digital production.
There’s more to come with the 2025 AACTA Awards Ceremony this Friday, February 7th, broadcast on Channel Ten from 7.30pm AEDT.
An extended broadcast of the AACTA Awards will be available from 7:30pm on Saturday, February 8th on BINGE and main presenting partner Foxtel.
