Pete Davidson (“Saturday Night Live,” “The Pickup”) and Ella Purnell (“Fallout,” “Yellowjackets”) for the upcoming rom-com “That Time We Met.”

The film marks the sophomore feature from Nick Lieberman, who made a splash with his 2023 mockumentary feature debit “Theater Camp,” which he co-directed with Molly Gordon. Lieberman will directed from a script by Mitchell Winkie, who wrote 2021 rom-com “The Ultimate Playlist of Noise.”

“That Time We Met” is set to launch at the AFM with WME Independent handling sales.

Billed as a “cosmic” rom-com, the story follows a new couple that discovers their unborn child is destined to save the future of humanity. As per the synopsis: “The only problem is they’ve just had their first date and now they fucking hate each other.”

Matt Jackson and Joanne Lee of Jackson Pictures (“Molly’s Game,” “Children of Blood and Bone”), Oscar nominee Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Katie McNicol of Marc Platt Productions (“Wicked: For Good,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “La La Land”) and Ford Corbett and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media (“Goodrich,” “The Surfer, “Famous”) will produce. Gramercy’s Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano will be executive producers.

Recently seen alongside Eddie Murphy and Keke Palmer in “The Pickup,” Davidson is also set to star in David Leitch’s “How to Rob a Bank” for Amazon MGM Studios and set to be released in September 2026.

Purnell, meanwhile, has the second season of the hit Amazon Prime Video series “Fallout” landing in December, alongside the return of Sky Atlantic’s comedy drama “Sweetpea,” now in production. She recently wrapped filming for Craig Roberts’ comedy horror “The Scurry.”
