Jordan Peele fans will have to wait to a bit longer for his next movie.

The Oscar-winner’s fourth film as a director will now debut on Oct. 23, 2026. That’s a significant jump from the original release date of Dec. 25, 2024, which was announced in March 2023, two months before the WGA strike that, along with the SAG-AFTRA strike starting in July, brought production to a standstill for most of the year. The delay led Universal to pull the film from its calendar; Peele announced the new release date over social media.

Beyond that sliver of information, virtually nothing is known about the project, from the logline to any prospective cast members. But Peele did briefly discuss the film on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast on Jan. 1.

“I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” he said.

Peele’s feature debut, the 2017 thriller “Get Out,” with Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams, instantly vaulted the comedy star into the A-list of auteur directors, receiving widespread critical acclaim for its razor-sharp parable of racial appropriation, earning $255 million at the global box office and winning Peele an Oscar for best original screenplay. His second film, 2019’s thriller “Us,” with Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, garnered $256 million worldwide, and his 2022 sci-fi thriller “Nope,” with Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, grossed $172 million globally.

Peele has also been a prolific producer in film and TV through his Monkeypaw Productions company, including movies like 2018’s “BlacKkKlansman,” 2021’s “Candyman” and the 2022 animated feature “Wendell & Wild,” which Peele co-wrote with director Henry Selick; and series like Amazon’s “Hunters” and HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.” Peele most recently championed Dev Patel’s directorial debut, “Monkey Man,” coming on board as a producer and persuading Universal to acquire the project from Netflix.
