Disney is making summer 2025 all about ohana.
Two family friendly movies, the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” and the Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan sequel “Freakier Friday,” have been dated for next summer.
“Lilo & Stitch” will hit theaters on May 23, 2025, and “Freakier Friday” will be on Aug. 8, 2025. Both films had a big showing at this year’s D23 Expo, where the title of the “Freaky Friday” sequel and first look at the adorable CGI Stitch were unveiled.
Young actor Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo Pelekai in the remake, which comes 23 years after the original animated movie. Like the first movie, it takes place in Hawaiian and follows Lilo and her big sister Nani as they discover a chaotic blue alien named Stitch.
Sydney Agudong stars as Nani in the live-action version, with Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch. The cast includes Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley, Courtney B. Vance, Tia Carrere — who voiced Nani in the original film — and more.
Curtis and Lohan return 22 years later for the follow-up to their beloved, body swap comedy “Freaky Friday.” Also coming back are Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. “The Acolyte” and “The Good Place” actor Manny Jacinto, “Never Have I Ever” star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters round out the cast.
Here’s the plot description: “A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”
