The Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards have announced its winners for 2022.
Thomas M. Wright won Best Screenplay and Best Director for “The Stranger”, which also won Best Film. Joel Edgerton, meanwhile, won Best Actor for the same film.
“The Drover’s Wife” also had success at the 2022 Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards, with Leah Purcell winning Best Actress and Mark Wareham taking home Best Cinematography.
Leeanna Walsman was rewarded for her work on “Bosch and Rockit” with the Best Actress Supporting Role award, while Sean Harris from”The Stranger” took home Best Actor Supporting Role.
The FCAA noted that in this year’s cohort, the standard of entries for Best Documentary Feature was exceptionally high. As a result, the organisation decided to acknowledge two projects – “Man on Earth” and “Senses of Cinema”.
The FCAA said it exists to add support to Australian film culture, to provide a forum for issues affecting film and filmgoers (such as classification and censorship), to participate in international critics juries and assist Australian film festivals with international jury representation, and provide professional support for critics.
