Network 10 is gearing up for its next dating format, releasing a first look at the upcoming “The Real Love Boat”.
The series will take place on a boat moving through the Mediterranean with host Darren McMullen.
It will also feature Hannah Ferrier as cruise director, Daniel Doody as head of entertainment, and Princess Cruises’ Paolo Arrigo.
The network has not yet revealed when the show will screen on Channel 10 and BVOD service 10 Play, but did offer the following teaser: “Only one couple can make it to the final port. Who will drop anchor and who will abandon ship?”
The trailer features host McMullen aboard the boat singing his rendition of “Love Boat”, accompanied by a montage of couples meeting aboard and going on various dates on land.
“The Real Love Boat” is produced by Eureka Productions in association with Buster Productions.
McMullen has previously said he is pumped to be part of the program.
“My first time on a ship and what better way to kick this off than cruising around the Mediterranean this summer,” he said. “This is one of those experiences that you really have to pinch yourself and can’t believe your luck. I feel incredibly blessed and I’m looking forward to seeing the romance blossom for our singles.”
There is also an upcoming U.S. version of “The Real Love Boat”. It is a CBS Original and will feature Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romjin as hosts. It is due to premiere on Oct. 5 in the U.S.
The format has been spawned from the 1977 TV series “The Love Boat”, a romantic comedy/ drama which took place on the luxury passenger cruise ship MS Pacific Princess. Both the series and the 1976 made-for-TV movie were based on the book “The Love Boats”, written by Jeraldine Saunders, a real-life cruise director.
