Mushroom Creative House, part of the wider Mushroom Group, has been honoured as the Production Company of the Year at the 2022 Mumbrella Awards.

The company was up against Visual Domain and Revolver for the award.

Mushroom Creative House said its work this year had been incredible, with unforgettable content, events and experiences all coming from a small team.

“This year saw the development of projects like “Music From The Home Front” – one of the most unique concerts ever screened on Australian television,” the company noted. “Beyond this, in partnership with Mushroom Events, Mushroom Creative House led the creative for the entertainment for the 2021 AFL Grand Final, including the incredibly late-notice move to Perth, which necessitated a last-minute change of entire line up, choreography, crewing and performance planning.”

Mushroom Creative House also included its work with Menulog as part of its entry.

The food delivery brand had asked the production company: “How do we build on the success of the Snoop campaign and drive further relevance in the local market?”

The result was a further iteration of the campaign featuring local voices and performers such as Baker Boy, Kirsten Salty, D’Arcy Spiller and Big Twisty.

The company also spoke about its television series “The Sound”, created for the ABC to spotlight Australia’s local music artists and give them an opportunity to perform at iconic venues.

“The scale, the artists, the concepts were like nothing Australia had ever seen before, and the pace at which it was created was astounding,” it said of the project.

Jess Tarpey, chief operating officer of Mushroom Creative House, said the team was “bloody happy” with the trophy.

“The team couldn’t deserve it more,” she said. “We’ve had an enormous year and their passion, dynamism and energy has kept production and creative standards unbelievably high in the face of some pretty crazy challenges. I couldn’t be happier and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Matt Gudinski, Mushroom Group’s chief executive, added: “Mushroom Creative House is one of the fastest developing companies within the evolving Mushroom Group and is quickly becoming one of the most progressive agencies in the country. The team we have assembled is full of extremely talented individuals who’ve delivered many amazing campaigns in recent times. I am very proud to see the team be recognised as Production Company of the Year at the Mumbrella Awards, it’s only the beginning for Mushroom Creative House.”

Tom Macdonld, Mushroom Creative House’s chief executive officer, meanwhile, paid tribute to the late Michael Gudinski: “As time has gone on it has hit home how blessed we were to work so closely with MG. Michael was a true visionary who was still pushing boundaries until the very end, including everyone at Mushroom Creative House to our absolute limits. We will forever be indebted to him. This one’s for you MG.”
