The Seven Network is the new official broadcast partner of the TV Week Logie Awards.
The television awards program has at various times been broadcast on Network 10, Seven Network, Nine Network and the ABC, but has consistently run on Nine since 1996.
Seven’s new deal with Are Media – owners of TV Week magazine – is said to be “multi-year”.
The location for next year’s ceremony, however, has not yet been disclosed.
James Warburton, CEO and managing director of Seven West Media, said the network is honoured to be partnering with Are Media to bring the Logies to Channel 7 and 7Plus.
“The TV Week Logie Awards are more than just television’s night of nights; they are a treasured Australian institution and a celebration of Australia’s love of television,” he said.
“It’s early days, but we have big, exciting plans for the awards in 2023 and beyond.”
Jane Huxley, CEO of Are Media, added: “The TV Week Logie Awards has become the most anticipated event of the year for the television industry as we celebrate the most popular stars and shows on our screens. We are delighted to continue our long-standing association with the awards and equally pleased to welcome the Seven Network as the Logies’ official broadcast partner.”
The awards will take place on Sunday, June 18 next year.
This year’s event, the last on the Nine Network, was overhauled to somewhat separate it from TV Week magazine.
Experience agency Rizer was brought on board to manage the event from start to finish as an independent organiser. Previously, Rizer had only managed the red carpet and other awards logistics, but in 2022 the team took on network submissions, managing voting and verifying the final nominees.
Ahead of the 2022 event, Adrian Swift, Nine Network’s head of content production and development, told Variety Australia the change in how the event was organised would make the awards better.
Despite the most recent change, a Nine Network spokesperson told Variety Australia the network would continue to join in the celebrations.
“The Logies are an important and valuable platform to celebrate the great work of our television industry, a night for our audience to connect with all parts of the industry and celebrate,” the spokesperson said.
“It has in its 62-year history been screened on all networks. We look forward to the TV Week Logies in 2023 and joining in the celebrations.”
