Everything Coming to Netflix in October 2022

With Halloween on the horizon, several scary films are coming to Netflix this month.

On October 1st, a bundle of horror titles hit the streaming platform, including “Friday the 13th”, “Exorcist: The Beginning”, and two films in the “Paranormal Activity” series.

There’s also “Wolf Creek”, a classic Australian horror film that was released to some controversy back in 20o5. The story follows three backpackers making their way through the desolate Australian outback, who find themselves taken captive and subsequently hunted by the sadistic serial killer Mick Taylor.

The realistic and unrestrained depictions of violence were simultaneously praised and reviled by critics, but the fact “Wolf Creek” spawned a sequel, a television spinoff, and was included on Slant‘s list of the 100 best films of the decade speaks to some underlying quality.

If being terrified isn’t your thing, a number of stand-up specials are also hitting Netflix this October. Peabody Award winner Hasan Minhaj’s latest comedy special, “The King’s Jester”, arrives on October 4th. It sees the comedian return to his storytelling roots four years after the mammoth success of his previous Netflix special, “Homecoming King”, which earned him his first Peabody in 2018.

One week later, Iliza Shlesinger’s new comedy special, “Hot Forever”, premieres. With topics ranging from tight rompers to ugly bras to why every man needs a box spring, the comedian remains one of the the funniest performers of her generation.
