A certain “Toy Story” spinoff and yet another “Star Wars” prequel are among the big titles coming to Disney+ this August.
On August 3rd, Tim Allen’s out and Chris Evans is in as the voice of Woody’s best friend in “Lightyear”. The “Toy Story” spinoff caused a great deal of confusion regarding what its basic concept was in the lead-up to its release, but the film explained all: “Lightyear” is the film that characters such as Andy watched and fell in love with in the main “Toy Story” universe.
It follows Buzz struggling to make his way back home through space and time after he’s left stranded on a hostile planet millions of light-years away from Earth. Zurg and his army of menacing robots are on hand to complicate matters, but at least Buzz has a cute robot cat companion to keep him company on his adventure.
At the end of the month, “Andor” is set to explore another new perspective from the “Star Wars” galaxy. A prequel to “Rogue One”, the series will follow Cassian Andor (Diego Luna reprising his “Rogue One” role) as he embarks on the path to becoming a Rebel hero. Stellan Skarsgård and Fiona Shaw are part of the strong cast, with episodes set to be released weekly until November.
August 31st sees the arrival of one of the most talked-about new series of 2022. “The Bear” takes viewers into the frenetic world of Chicago restaurants. The drama follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a young chef from the fine dining world who returns to the city to run his family sandwich shop. He’ll have to learn to balance owning a small business while coping with the impact of a heartbreaking death in the family.
