A highly-anticipated spy drama and several Christmas specials are coming to BritBox in December.
On December 9th, “A Spy Among Friends” comes to BritBox, based on the novel of the same name by Ben Macintyre.
The espionage thriller follows the true story of Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby, two British spies and lifelong friends. Their close relationship is severely tested when Elliott discovers that Philby was secretly working as a double agent for the KGB at the height of the Cold War.
The always-reliable Damien Lewis and Guy Pearce are in the lead roles, while “Homeland” writer Alexander Cary should be on familiar terrain helming the adaptation.
And on Saint Stephen’s Day, comedy giant Greg Davies’ well-received sitcom, “The Cleaner”, will be airing its Christmas special.
Based on the German sitcom “Der Tatortreiniger”, Davies plays a Government-certified cleaning technician, Paul “Wicky” Wickstead, who’s responsible for the removal of all signs of death from crime scenes.
As he visits a new crime scene each episode, Wickstead meets a wide variety of people, and cleaning up crime scenes doesn’t always go as planned.
