The cast of Stan’s upcoming six-part crime drama “Black Snow” came together over the weekend to celebrate its imminent launch.

All episodes will drop on Stan on New Year’s Day.

The series was created by Lucas Taylor, who was in attendance alongside director Sian Davies, executive producers Rosemary Blight and Ben Grant, as well as producers Kaylene Butler and Lois Randall. Cast members including Jemmason Power, Molly Fatnowna, Alex England, Seni Willet, Rob Carlton, Joshua Macqueen, Daniela Farinacci, Eden Cassidy, Annabel Wolfe, Joe Kelly and Anthony J. Sharpe also walked the blue carpet, alongside musician Ziggy Ramo, who makes his screen debut in “Black Snow”.

The premiere event took place in Brisbane at Event Cinemas Myer Centre, a nod to the fact the production took place in Queensland.

It it set in the sugarcane fields of North Queensland in both 1994 and the present day, combining the classic coming-of-age drama story with the classic whodunit mystery.

“It’s 1994 in Ashford, North Queensland, and a group of high school students are working on a time capsule. One week before the capsule is buried, Isabel Baker (Talijah Blackman-Corowa) is murdered. The crime shocks the small town and devastates Isabel’s Australian South Sea Islander community. The case is never solved, the killer never found,” Stan said ahead of the show’s release.

“Twenty-five years later, opening the time capsule unearths a letter from Isabel that sheds new light on her unsolved murder. The investigation is reopened and Detective Sergeant James Cormack (Travis Fimmel), from the State Cold Case Unit, arrives in Ashford to begin the search for Isabel’s killer.”

“Black Snow” was produced by Goalpost Television with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Stan. It was also financed with support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW and AMC Networks’ Sundance Now, which will also serve as distributor in the U.S., Canada and U.K.
