Erin Molan has announced her radio show alongside Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes and Ed Kavalee, “Hughesy, Ed and Erin”, will be back on SCA’s 2Day FM in 2023.
Molan announced the news on LinkedIn, saying the revelation was “completely unprompted”, accompanied by a winking emoji – likely a reference to ongoing and persistent rumours that the radio show could be replaced by the Hit Network’s nights host Abbie Chatfield or drive host Carrie Bickmore, who recently announced her imminent departure from Channel 10’s “The Project”.
Molan said the deal was actually done a couple of months back and that she was very grateful to be part of the SCA team.
In the post, she also noted the number of “Hughesy, Ed and Erin” listeners had almost doubled over the past year.
In the most recent ratings survey, 2Day FM had a 3.7% share in the breakfast slot. Its cumulative audience was 365,000. In the same survey in 2021, it had a cumulative audience of 207,000 and a share of 2.9%.
Ahead of the show’s launch, Dave Cameron, SCA’s chief content officer, said the trio were all trusted and strong performers in the station’s target market.
“In bringing back a headline breakfast show again to 2Day, it was critical for us to deliver the combination of established chemistry, familiarity, existing high passion for our talent, deep breakfast radio experience and, most importantly, a show focused completely on Sydney every morning,” he said.
“The “2Day FM Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin” will bring a clever with a show that’s already at the top of its game.”
